The first time I heard of the Waldorf Astoria was in one of my favourite movies “Coming to America” . Granted I was still a kid but I remember how elegant and regal the Waldorf looked. Although that Waldorf was in New York and I still have it on my list of hotels to visit, we have one right here in the UAE. This Waldorf is located in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaima an hour’s drive from Dubai. The Hotel boasts beach front property on the gorgeous lazuline Arabian Sea.
Upon entering we were greeted warmly by Valet and Concierge who assisted us quite promptly with our bags and car. The reception area opens to a huge luxurious exquisitely decorated lobby area.
Check in was completed in under ten minutes and we had someone accompany us to our room to explain the various features. We had booked the Classic King Room which had a stellar view of the Hotel’s private beach. The room was not only picture perfect but spacious with immaculate attention paid to minor detail like the patterned ceilings and branding.
The room is fitted with a huge dressing room with plenty closet space with the usual hotel trimmings, the fluffiest bathrobes known to man and softest slippers. The bathroom’s rain shower was one of my favourite features. One could literally shower for an hour with such perfect water pressure.
The room has a fully functional desk area and quasi living area with a stocked out mini fridge, couch where you can relax as you gaze out the window to perfect views of the sunset.
The room was so comfortable, we prolonged leaving it to explore the rest of the property.
The hotel has a huge general pool area with a pool bar. And an adult pool closer to the beach.
There are wooden gazebos littered around the gardens for those wanting to treat themselves to the many spa treatments available. A gym and tennis court are available if working out n holiday is your thing. It definitely isn’t mine 🙂
The beach is a stones throw away from the gardens and plenty beach chairs mean you can lounge around all day ordering drinks and food to your hearts content while soaking in some sun, sea and sand.
The service was impeccable, every single staff member was extremely helpful and efficient at getting us what we needed to make our stay comfortable.Various dining experiences from Japanese, a Steak House and an Arabic restaurants to cater to your cravings.
I loved breakfast at Qasr Al Bahr. A buffet breakfast filled with delicious variety of dishes to let you start of your day with a good big breakfast.
Although on the higher price range, this place is worth every single penny. One of my happy places in the UAE. We will definitely return. Keep up the excellent work everyone.
