There is nothing like starting the day with a scrumptious breakfast and this is exactly what we experienced at Maison Mathis. The restaurant’s minimalistic but classy decor creates a very relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
We visited the restaurant around 9:30am on a Saturday morning, the restaurant was relatively quiet with the crowds trickling in slowly that it was bustling by 11.
We were famished so hubby and I went straight to the full English breakfast featuring the usual suspects of scrambled eggs, sourdough bread, bacon, sausage, mushroom, baked beans, black pudding (we substituted this for extra bacon) and a hash brown.
It was a delicious very satiating meal. The only thing was the bacon was very well done bordering on crispy and we like our bacon soft and juicy. Apart from that, it gets my two thumbs up for sure.
They also serve complimentary bread with butter and jam, which we obviously devoured.
I love big breakfasts because they keep you plenty filled till late afternoon. To drink we had Cafe lattes which were just perfect. Our friends had the Farmers Omelette and the 6 hour slow cooked pulled beef Benedict, which tasted great.
Overall the service was attentive and friendly, despite the place getting busy. It is very child friendly, with the majority of patrons having little toddlers.
The prices are also very reasonable and average for this type of establishment. This is a place I would definitely love to visit again.
