There is simply nothing better than discovering new brunching spots in the food metropolis of Dubai. This time the love of food led us to the Art of Brunch hosted at the Fountain Restaurant situated on the ground floor of the Movenpick Hotel in Bur Dubai. Valet was a breeze, leaving us to head inside to enjoy the decadent feast that awaited.
We were greeted warmly by the concierge and walked into the spacious marble courtyard of the hotel with carpeted elegant stairwells leading to a landing platform where a grand piano stood waiting to be played. An elegant lady played melodious enchanting music a few minutes later and throughout the entire brunch.
The opulent décor creates a very classy and elegant atmosphere that is truly impressive.
At the end of the stairs stood a delightful decadent spread of dessert that was not only pleasing to the eye but displayed a variety of cakes, pastries, mousses and fruit. They say Life’s too short, eat dessert first, I was so tempted to do just that but restrained myself a little longer.
There’s a kiddies area where you can leave the little ones while you enjoy your brunch. The kiddies area is very spacious , filled with a jumping castle and soft play areas with TV screens, little table and chairs for coloring .
The kiddies too have a spread of their own which includes burgers, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and some cupcakes. The kids are well taken care of by a nanny who keeps a watchful eye on them.We were shown to our table and the various food stations. As with most buffets, one is always spoilt for choice.
There were a variety of counters including a bread counter with cold meats and cheese spreads, salad bars which showcased a wide variety of continental and Mediterranean salads which were beautifully laid out in all their splendor.
They also had a carving area with succulent tender delicious roast beef. The counter displaying delicious mains of succulent lamb, beef, fish and chicken dishes.
The lamb in bean sauce and seafood green curry stood out for me was tantalizing flavorful and beyond scrumptious.
There is a pork area which displayed some pork belly, sausages, cured cold cuts, pork roasts with various condiments and accompanying sauces. The pork belly was my favorite, it was very tender and juicy full of flavor. The duck was also very tasty. There was also an Indian cuisine counter with delicious variety of curries, Panneer, roti’s and rice.
Wait there’s more, there was a sushi station, They have a live cooking seafood station
which also had a spread of sushi, the station was so colorful and very inviting. I stacked my plate with a variety of maki and I found it quite unique that the some of the maki had pieces of mango inside which was delicious. The sushi was fresh and delicious.
In addition to the dessert feast, there was an ice cream and crepe counter where you can get a custom made crepe made with various accompaniments and toppings.
I also loved the tiramisu, although a little watery was delicious and rich. The chocolate brownie was amazing. The sticky mango also good but not as creamy as I would have hoped.
The orange juice and strawberry Margarita were delicious.
There were ice lollies in gin and tonic flavour as well as cheese cake, being brought around by the friendly waiter Kundan, this was a lovely idea.
My taste buds were beautifully surprised during my entire brunch experience. The food was excellent, the quality superb. The service was very attentive, friendly, efficient and non-intrusive. They have done an excellent job in making one’s experience not only a decadent one but a memorable one too. Would I recommend this place for brunch? A big resounding yes.
