Situated at the Le Meridien in Garhoud, Mahec offers a unique Indian Fine Dining experience that made a lasting impression on me. The decor is very oriental inducing a very comfortable atmosphere. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Mahec opens from 12pm to 3:30pm for lunch and again at 6pm for dinner patrons.
We ordered the Murg Tikka, chicken kebabs, these were so scrumptious, piping hot and so tasty, the meat well cooked and succulent.Incredible to the taste.
We also ordered the Murg Kathi Rolls, which were nice, except they could have been a little juicier.
For mains we tried the Hyderabadi Nihari gosht, essentially lamb shank is a meaty hearty gravy. I have tasted nothing like it in Indian cuisine. Simply outstanding dish. It comes with a side of the most fragrant and aromatic saffron rice. My taste buds were doing cartwheels the whole night.
Being utterly stuffed did not stop me from trying their dessert. We tried the mango kulfi, ice cream as well as the Bombay pudding.
I loved the freshness of the kulfi, very natural and very addictive taste. The Bombay pudding did not live up to my expectation. I was expecting an explosion of flavors and textures but found it very bland. the mini chocolate cake they organized for our anniversary more than made up for the Bombay let down.
To drink I had a Largerita, which is a margerita with Mexican beer which was refreshing but tasted just like beer with ice. I was hoping for a more tangy and lemon zesty taste. The hoegaarden…no need to rate that…its always the perfect drink.
The service from the moment we entered was professional, courteous and very friendly. The service was consistent throughout the evening.
Overall I found the restaurant very classy, sophisticated offering excellent calibre of equality food and ingredients that elevates Indian fine Dining. I found the portions really generous and food incredibly and tasty. I was happy with my experience. The prices are a little on the high side, but hey in my opinion, its all worth it. I would definetly come back again.
