Staycations are amazing, they not only provide a short and sweet refreshing escape, but they are also minimal effort. Getting to Centro Sharjah was easy, its literally a 10 minute drive from central Sharjah and stone’s throw away from Sharjah International Airport.
Centro, is the economic lifestyle hotel brand part of the Rotana group of hotels. It’s graded a 3 star hotel, when I really think 4 stars would be more apt. It really does offer practicality and meets the demands of the modern day traveler at really affordable rates. Complimentary valet if is available upon arrival for guests.
The hotel’s contemporary and chic décor creates a very vibrant and colorful atmosphere. The Ground floor of the reception area was spacious neat with citrus notes filling the air.
Checking in: Check in was a breeze. Doha, the receptionist was very friendly and efficient. We requested a room with a nice view and she organized one for us with no issues. Doha also gave us an overview of the amenities available at the hotel.
Dining:The Ground Floor houses the in House Restaurant, C-Taste, where Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is served. C-Taste serves a variety of international cuisine with well-organized food stations and a spacious seating area set up under glass ceilings allowing plenty of sunshine in. C-Deli is the 24 hour café for those midnight cravings.
Food: My take on the food is that it was simply excellent, I had lunch dinner and breakfast during my stay and was very impressed on all counts. Read about all the food I enjoyed here. On a more sobering note, this hotel is in Sharjah and possession of alcohol is prohibited so no alcohol consumption is allowed.
The Room: The hotel boasts around 300 rooms and ours was a queen studio on the 4th Floor overlooking the pool area. Upon entering I loved the all glass paneled windows which made the room brighter. I love natural lighting so this was absolutely perfect. The room was very spacious. The bed was a luxurious queen sized and was as comfortable as it looked.
There is a L shaped couched providing that perfect lounging space to curl up with a book or catch up on some TV. I loved the independent rotating TV stand, very practical for TV watching at any angle.
The mini kitchenette was equipped with a mini fridge, kettle, microwave and complimentary coffee, tea, milk and creamers to make that perfect cuppa.
The bathroom area had a huge shower and stocked with plenty towels, shower gels and shampoo.
I only wish they had slippers, this would have been an extra little comfort that I would have appreciated. I had forgotten my toothbrush but as soon as I called housekeeping, they delivered one to me at a very minimal charge.
Business centre: The hotel comes fully equipped with three meeting rooms for business conferences and meetings. If you need access to internet, printer and scanners, Link is their business center available to cater to those needs.
Shop: There is a quaint little souvenir shop with little nick nacks and gifts to buy for friends and family. They also have an ATM available.
Gym: I must admit, gym is my least favorite place in the world but for those who love to keep fit while on vacation, they have a fully-fledged gym, with dead mills, I mean treadmills *smirk and plenty other fun equipment to keep you working up a sweat. They have a sauna which I made full use of and worked up a little bit of sweat of my own.
Pool area: The pool area was my favorite part after the amazing restaurant and food. A huge pool area with scattered sun loungers and wicker garden chairs providing the ultimate relaxation.
I felt extremely at peace in the luscious green garden with its well-manicured lawns and palm trees inducing a very tropical vibe. They have a ping pong table and a Jacuzzi that made me very happy at the end of my swimming session. The pool was the perfect temperature, not to cold or hot, just right. There is plenty space for the kids to swim in the kiddy pool area also.
Service:The service at this hotel is beyond what I expected, everyone went out of their way to help. Sincere thank you to Doha, Paula Ann Chef Hassan and Chef Khalid and Cheran who were excellent at making us feel like valued guests. Customer service for me is key so this was a really memorable experience.
Would I come back: This place is perfect for travelers on a budget but also locals who need a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Its perfect for families, friend getaway or even a solo trip. I would definetly come back.Life is too short not to get away from it all once in a while. Thanks for the amazing stay
