High Tea faux pas

Al Samar Lounge is situated in the lobby of the  gorgeous beautiful Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam, Madinat Jumeirah. I loved the sheer sophistication and elegance of the hotel.

I loved the grand interior From the lounge you can see magnificent sea and Burj Al Arab views.IMG_5119

I must be honest high teas are  not my  favorite cup of tea, no pun intended. Only because the menu is so limited, limited to light finger foods that really can either work deliciously or leave you feeling high and dry.  The high tea costs 180 per person from 3pm to 6pm on a Friday. We were a group of 8 and had entertainer vouchers so we opted to share one between two people. We were informed that because we are sharing the refills cannot be replenished , which means we only get one stand of the cakes and sandwiches. This was totally fine considering we all had a late breakfast.

The sandwich and pastry spreads were really nothing spectacular, I sadly anticipated an amazing spread with decadent nibbles but I was sadly disappointed. The spread was sparse and the only amazing thing was the carrot cake cupcake.IMG_5123

They brought out scones which were delicious but by this time my phone died so unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures. The rooibos tea was good.

The service wasn’t also too great, its probably because it was a busy time and they had few staff but its still not an excuse, we had to wave people down continuously to come and help us.

Rather disappointing experience. I dont think I will be returning.
