I had never heard of momo’s until I moved to Dubai. Momo’s are believed to be of Nepalese origin. What it is a flour based steamed bun with different minced fillings of chicken, beef vegetables, paneer (cottage cheese) fish, whatever your heart desires. Momo’s are usually served with some form of dip or chutney. Momo’s are delightful bite sized delicacies that you can snack on anywhere anytime.
The Real Momo Cafetreia is situated in the bustling Karama district, which I believe is the food capital of Dubai, only because there are so many different restaurants in close proximity.
The restaurant is small and modest with enough seating fro maximum 6-8 people at a time. But you know what they say dynamite comes in small packages lol.
The momo’s we tried were the chicken tikka momo’s. These were deliciously juicy and packed with so much flavour, i literally couldn’t stop gobbling bite after bite. The chilly and mint sauces that accompanies the momo’s is also the perfect condiment to complete the dish. We had these at the restaurant and had the rest later.
The chai is delicious and quenches that tea craving very nicely.
The restaurant gets really busy so make sure you get there before the dinner crowds rush in. The service was really friendly with the owners wife, being very helpful. The momo’s are reasonably priced. The menu extends to noodles and rice too. Cant wait to come back for some more of this good stuff.
