My team and I finally got a chance to be together at the same time and place for a team lunch! Mistral in Movenpick Hotel Ibn Batutta is where it went down 🙂 I fall in love with the Arabic themed hotel with its pale yellow walls, detailed delicate l hanging lamps from high ceilings and splashes of color that promise to take you on an interesting adventure.
The restaurant is very spacious and is quite popular for the corporate clientele.
We were shown to our tables where everyone put their bags down and scurried to the myriads of tables housing delicious delicacies for us to discover. They offer a lovely continental buffet offering bread and cheese stands,
and Indian food and most importantly dessert.
Buffets are great but can be distracting only because of the confusing options that beg for your attention. First world problems I tell you! So in my endeavour to not be overwhelmed I tried a structured approach.
I started with some good old sushi, freshly made sushi awaits to be devoured. Fresh and yum.
Next I tried the Arabic counter where the kebabs took my breath away. The tawook kababs and marinated chicken kebabs were the most freshest and tastiest I have had in a while. I tried to be moderate in my eating but the kebabs were begging me to have more and I succumbed to two rounds.
I then had some roast potatoes meat balls and more kebabs, i know crazy combination but it was all tasty.
The fish was bland in my opinion. The restaurant is great but I was disappointed that there wasn’t a dedicated seafood station, maybe I missed it but I would have loved to have prawns and some salmon.
You have to try the tiramisu which is unconventionally made. The mango puffs were also divine. They have soft serve ice cream too if the array of desserts do not do justice to your sweet tooth cravings.
Service was friendly and efficient too.
