Casterbridge Hollow Boutique Hotel boasts prime location along the meandering panoramic routes of White River. It truly is a gem that we were fortunate to discover.

The Hotel is beautiful has a rustic, antique feel with a touch of ethnic décor in earthy tones. I was pleased to learn that most of the art pieces in the hotel as well as the restaurant are bought from local artists.  Nothing nobler than an establishment that empowers and supports its community.IMG_0936 Casterbridge embodies tranquility comfort and a timeless charm.

IMG_0879On arrival we were warmly greeted by Antoinette who was at the front desk. Checking in was a breeze. As you step out of the reception area, huge glass doors lead out to the luxurious pool area situated in the middle of the courtyard. Pool chairs and tables are available.

We were shown our rooms, which were the family adjoining rooms. The rooms are not only spacious but beautiful too. Both rooms had small but lovely balconies with a great view.IMG_0867

We had a massive King sized sleigh bed and two single beds, with fresh linen, TV, fridge and extra blankets in case it gets nippy.

There is a double wooden glass door that leads to a classy huge bathtub, with two basins and mirrors, a toilet and a shower. Impressive that their toiletries are supplied by Charlot Rhys.

Casterbridge forms part of the Lifestyle Centre which houses various quaint boutique stores where you find specialty items such as linens, clothes, décor material antique stores and wine stores.

IMG_0955IMG_0933IMG_0969IMG_0966As I was wondering around I discovered the Casterbridge Cinema which showcases golden oldies as well as modern movies at various timings.

Unfortunately it was closed, it would have been lovely to take a sneak peak. True to the artistic vibe of the place, an art gallery as well as a performing arts warehouse can be found on the premises.

The Hotels main Restaurant is called Magnolia. IMG_0884I had the opportunity to speak to the GM of Caster Bridge who is also a renowned Chef, Jamie Watt. Jamie’s passion for the hotel stood out as he explained that customer service is one thing that he does not take lightly and it shows with his staff. I found the service efficient and attentive.

Jamie also explained how the hotel’s décor is inspired by the surrounds to create the perfect atmosphere. Each piece of furniture is interesting and enhances the country style décor.

From the chandeliers to the long bourgeois dining tables to the paintings this place embodies a charm like no other, especially at night when all the beautiful lights are on.

Even the bathroom doors adorn iconic figures such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn which accentuates the charisma of the place.

Jamie also explained that the choice  ingredients used in Magnolia are fresh and produced in the area, something that adds to the authenticity of the place. The menu is very general to cater to the international palates that frequent the area. The prices are reasonable and I enjoyed the delicious food. I would definitely recommend their signature Magnolia Burger. Breakfast was buffet style and served a continental breakfast.

IMG_0889My only comment would be that they should improve on keeping the food warm as it cools in the open.

A big thank you to Manager, Nolitha Kutsu who was very knowledgeable and who took the time to explain the history of the hotel and provide very useful information to inform the writing of this post.

If you are looking for a place which offers relaxation beauty and is central  to all the major tourists attractions such as Kruger National Park, Waterfalls, Gods window and many adventure activities such as mountain trail hiking, horse riding and various other outdoor sports. They also can organize you transport if you require and offer tour guide services.

For a customer oriented hotel that feels like home this is definitely a hotel to visit. Guaranteed satisfaction. Keep the excellent up.
