The complimentary Abra ride was a beautiful start to our evening as we were whisked away to a wonderful Thai experience. The weather was great, warm but not humid. Dining al fresco was more than welcome. We were greeted by a lovely friendly hostess who showed us to our table by the canal side.
The ambience was amazing, with soft soothing beats in the background and candle lit tables. They do go the extra mile in making this an authentic Thai experience, so much so that my mind drifted to feeling like we were actually in Thailand,
We had the grilled chicken satay for starters, accompanied by a creamy decadent peanut sauce. The satays were enough for two and found them filling. The chicken was tender and succulent, dipped in the peanut sauce created a flavorful mouthwatering combination.
For mains we weren’t too sure what to order because of the countless options. We settled on the fried crab rice and the roasted red duck curry.
The roasted duck curry in a stew pot stole the show for me. The waiter had asked before hand, the level of spicy we preferred. We chose to fail safe with the medium spicy. This was to date to be the most delicious curry I have had. The strong coconut accents came through very nicely, with noticeable hints of lime and basil. I liked the slight sweetness the pineapple slices brought to the curry. The duck was cooked to tender perfection. My mouth is watering as I write this and remember that beautiful dish.
This is a a dish you will not regret. You could tell that only the freshest ingredients were used in every dish. My senses were really blown away by the tantalizing falvours.
We had no more space left for desert but settled for a light dessert in the form of ice-cream. We had coconut and chocolate respectively. I loved the chocolate rich bitter ice cream. I wasn’t too impressed with the coconut, had a strong aftertaste of artificial sweeteners.
The presentation of all the dishes was delightful and consistent. The service was absolutely outstanding. Our waitor Joh came to check on us frequently, he was very attentive and helpful.
The waiting time for the food was minimal which was impressive, despite how busy they seemed to be. While we were dining, a Thai traditional dancer entertained us by showcasing a beautiful Thai dance. This just added to the
already authentic Thai experience we were having.
Pai Thai is wonderful for an intimate romantic and serene evening. I found it a simply enchanting experience, worth every penny. Be sure to make a reservation as they get pretty busy.
